My farewell message released 27 August 2008:
My Dear Friends and Colleagues,
A journey of a thousand miles, I was told, starts with a "first step". And I like to add that no matter how long the distance, the journey will end with the "last step". I made my "first step" in my ADB career 30 years and 6 months ago. In few more days, I am preparing to do my "last step". By then, more than half of my life I have spent with ADB. But now it's time to bid farewell... with the sincerest hope that I have contributed something, no matter how small and insignificant perhaps, to the vision and mission of ADB.
Throughout my ADB career, I have my share of pleasant and frustrating experiences, which are not unusual in an imperfect world we all live in. I would want to take home with me the happy and enriching experiences and memories. So I thank ADB for my career of more than three decades, all of them in BPMSD, and the benefits I have enjoyed and, hopefully, continue to be enjoying in my remaining years, as I go on with my journey towards life's sunset.
Most importantly, I am forever grateful for the friendships that enrich my humanity while working in this institution... all you my friends and colleagues who have touched my life as I went through my ADB journey. I hope I will be leaving my heartprints in all of you as well, as I move on to the next and last phase of my life.
Thank you ADB, and thank you so much Dear Friends. I will carry a picture of all of you in my heart as I complete my life's journey outside ADB. I will miss you all. Farewell and a pleasant day.
Nick
